Something a little different from me today. Thanks to mariacristina, I have been inspired to try to write a story in 100 words. To make it easier for myself, I’ve based my story on a familiar children’s story. I have included the Friday 5 from Poefusion – brunt, crack, cherry, key, discard.
Through a crack in the door, Alice watched her sister eat cherries from a bowl on the kitchen table. She was tired of bearing the brunt of her sister’s moods and bad temper. She mounted the stairs, her excitement increasing at the thought of retrieving the key from where she had hidden it on top of the wardrobe. Her heart pounding, she stood on tiptoes and played her fingers along the edge . . . all she found was circles of dust on her finger tips. Alice sat down and wept a pool of tears, her dreams of escape to the cherry orchard, discarded.
