she said that
she would do it
tomorrow – postponing
the decision
one more day
she would do it
tomorrow – postponing
the decision
one more day
she knew that
she would not do it
tomorrow – prolonging
the situation
yet another week
at the year’s end
she gathered up
the scattered leaves
of unfulfilled aspiration -
a substantial pile
she blew on the leaves
- they levitated
to join the four winds
her breath spent
she contemplated
her wasted life

I see myself mirrored in this poem. I’m a great procrastinator.

This made me think a lot about those “tomorrows” that we all know won’t happen. Great take on it.
Welcome to 3WW!

It’s this fear that drives me to accomplish the things I do. This is a lovely poem with a strong emotion to it, and a finality in the final words that is very sad.

I feel like her right now

Nice poem – I keep putting off procrastination but it comes anyway. I kinda disagree with ‘wasted’ life, but I love the poem!

There seem to be a few others like me = I don’t do today what i can leave until tomorrow. A ‘wasted life’ is a worse case scenario. I can see what you mean, Tumblewords.

I think we all have a few leaves piled up and you hit a cord with me. Well done!

Very nice. It flowed smoothly and made me wonder how her life was wasted.

Somehow this saddened me. That 3rd stanza speaks out…
if tomorrow comes
